1. SPARE BUTTONS

I keep a jar of spare buttons which can be threaded on elastic to make unique bracelets.

 

2. KEYS

To identify your keys why not put a sticker a blob of paint or even some nail varnish to help you differentiate between keys.

3. ARMCHAIR COVERS

These will stay in place and not get lost if secured with Velcro or light stitching.

4. LOFT MUDDLE

Every time you put something in the loft add it to a list and keep the list attached to the loft lid in a plastic bag.

5. TOY BOX

A plastic laundry basket can be decorated with childs' paintings and used as a large toy box.

6. IDEAS

Carry a notebook around with you all the time and jot down an idea when it comes to mind.

7. HOOK TIDY

Place some self adhesive hooks inside your wardrobe door to hang belts hairbands necklaces etc.

8. BATTERY TIP

When replacing batteries for essential appliances always buy a spare set then you are not caught out.

9. EMPTY TUBE

To get the last contents out of a tube of toothpaste, tomato puree etc. wind the tube around a lollipop stick.


10. TV LICENCE

Stick your TV licence to the back of your set in order to be able to immediately retrieve it – but be careful not to cover any air vents.

11. RUGS STAY PUT

Stick some Velcro to the back of rugs and the floor and you will find the rug stays in place and does not curl.


12. PLASTECINE IN HAIR

Remove by applying Vaseline generously then comb through and plastecine simply slips out.

13. DRAFT MARKS

Remove draft marks that your Hoover misses with a damp cloth.


14. RING MARKS

Cup marks on tables can often vanish using shoe polish or felt pen of a matching colour.

15. DRESSMAKING

Upon completing an outfit sew a spare piece inside to use if you need to repair a rip at a later date.

16. SEWING

Always keep small box in the kitchen drawer with both black and white cotton threaded ready for those speedy repairs as these colours will generally match most things and help when time is short. Neutral thread will also be useful.

17. COORDINATE YOUR ROOM

If you wish to introduce a theme to a Childs bedroom for example cheaply, you can buy Birthday wrapping paper and cut out certain pictures characters etc and stick them on such things as bins plain lampshades, drawers, wardrobes doors etc and change them cheaply when you tire of them.

18. NEW WARDROBES

If you find the cost of doors too expensive on fitted wardrobes why not try roller blinds, which are much cheaper and come in a good range of colours.

19. DRAWING ON WALLS

Try to stop your child drawing on their wall by putting a large whiteboard on their bedroom wall, which will give them endless fun and encourage creativity.

20. WORN CLOTHES

When jeans get worn at the knees dye a darker colour. Babies white towels can be dyed to match to match your colour scheme. Bleach spilt on silk can sometimes be covered by dying, failing this try a permanent marker.

21. SAVE CALORIES

Instead of getting someone else to do your fetching and carrying upstairs why not do it yourself - stairs are an excellent source of exercise.

22. FILM CONTAINERS

Use 35mm film containers for storing tablets small beads or earrings.

23. RENT A ROOM

If you rent out property try leaving some pretty tissues or scented soap as a welcome touch, which will hopefully pay off, by the tenant respecting your property.

24. PAINTING

When you have finished painting before you put the tin away mark on the outside of the tin which room the colour applies and maybe also paint the colour on a small area of the tin for easy viewing at a later date.

25. LOUNGE SUITE

When you buy your lounge suite, order extra material and you could use it to make a picture frame, lampshades or cushions.
